Bringing Hope & Healing
to Vulnerable People

Nursing is the passion of my heart, which was born within me as a small child growing up in a third-world country. As a little girl, I saw firsthand the horrors of violence, misogyny, disease and malnourishment.

As I witnessed nurses providing compassionate presence and competent health care to the community, they became my heroines! As a 6-year-old, I committed my life to becoming “a super nurse,” with the dream of bringing hope and healing to marginalized and traumatized populations.

I am elated to be embarking now on the next chapter of my childhood dream to become a Nurse Practitioner. In May of 2025, I will be attending full-time Athabasca University’s Master of Nursing Program – Nurse Practitioner.

I invite you to partner with me and support me in my graduate studies to become a Nurse Practitioner.

I am passionate about caring for vulnerable people using a contextual, relational approach that treats the whole person in all their physical, social, psychological, and spiritual complexity. My lived experience in the healthcare system often devalues this comprehensive approach, prioritizing a model that is cost-effective, efficient and conceptualizes patients primarily as their disease or disorder. Nursing for me is value based, relational, in-the-moment, whole perspective care.

As I respond to the call to train as an Nurse Practitioner and function at a more advanced level of practice, I long to use my voice to support a comprehensive approach to care-provision alongside interdisciplinary colleagues. I aspire to be a role model and disciplinary leader that imparts hope and healing to suffering people and inspires others to mobilize an approach to care that is relational, compassionate, and comprehensive.

personally and professionally."

"Catherine’s passion for and attitude towards learning are a testament to her sense of self-direction and self-awareness, excellent qualities associated with thriving as

a Nurse Practitioner.”

Financial Support

Even though I have a surplus of passion and dedication to fulfill my childhood dream of becoming a "super nurse", I have a deficit in financial resources.  As a single parent trying to pay off a large undergraduate student loan, I do not have an extra dollar to my name.

I invite you to partner with me and support me in my graduate studies to become a Nurse Practitioner.
