Long Term Vision

My long-term vision is to establish a multi-disciplinary, research facility that would specialize in providing trauma-informed, holistic care for marginalized adolescents and adults, suffering with complex mental health trauma, addictions, and related dissociation.

Pathological dissociation is a complex phenomenon that is not well understood and where there are significant knowledge gaps. There is an urgent need to explore effective treatments to treat this complex population who are suffering severely without much hope of recovery. With further education, training and experience in advanced clinical nursing practice, I will be uniquely qualified to help lead this cutting-edge, interdisciplinary team of researchers and clinicians. I will also be equipped to coordinate and initiate outreach strategies focused on disease prevention, screening and early diagnosis, and treatment to address the many medical comorbidities that people with serious mental health illness often present with.

In addition, I intend to complete a PhD with a research focus on treating complex adult mental health trauma. I have been honored to care for many people in my everyday practice facing addictions, poly-substance withdrawal, rape survivors, PTSD, anxiety, and depression.  Pursuing PhD research will enhance my ability to support complex trauma survivors in their recovery.
